August 7-Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff's Office and the Air National Guard worked on a marijuana eradication operation near Bynum on Tuesday. Deputies located 16 plants at the residence of 84 Williams Pond Road. The plants were spotted by the air unit. Ground units responded and made contact with the resident who gave consent to search. The marijuana plants ranged from 3 to 4 feet tall. The value of the plants at maturity is $32,000.00.
Eleven of the plants were located outside of the residence while 5 plants were being grown inside the residence. Christopher Farley, 48, of 84 Williams Pond Road, Pittsboro was arrested for Felonious Manufacturing Marijuana and Felonious Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana and Felonious Maintaining a Dwelling for Controlled Substances. He was jailed under a $50,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on September 5.
