August 21- A Siler City man was arrested on Tuesday after Chatham County Deputies investigated a shots fired call on Pittsboro Goldston Road the occurred late Sunday night. Faye McDonald of 7936 Pittsboro Goldston Road told officers that John Hancock, 54, of 21 Diamond K Ranch, Siler City fired a shotgun into a window of her home after being told to leave the residence. Â Deputies responded to the scene and found 3 empty shotgun shells in the driveway but Hancock had left the area. Deputies checked several locations where it was believed that Hancock was living but did not locate him that night.
A warrant for his arrest was issued and after a criminal history check was done, it was discovered that Hancock is a convicted felon and it is unlawful for him to possess a weapon of any kind.
Hancock was located at Townsend’s Inc. in Siler City after investigators received information that he worked there. He was arrested without incident and charged with Felonious Shooting into Occupied Property, Felonious Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Injury to Personal Property. He was released under a written promise and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Siler City on September 11.
