June 18- The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Apex man for possessing of a stolen firearm on Monday. Officers served a Domestic Violence Order on Jeremy Miller, 32, of 565 Farrington Road, Apex on June 6th and in doing so, confiscated several firearms including a 22 caliber Smith and Wesson pistol. When all the serial numbers were checked, the pistol was found to be stolen. Arthur Freda reported a breaking and entering and larceny to his home in 2005 to Cary Police Department. Mr. Freda later positively identified the weapon as the one he reported stolen two years ago. Deputies also found that Miller did not obtain a pistol permit from the Sheriff’s Office before purchasing the gun as is required by law.
Miller was placed under arrest without incident and released under a written promise. He was charged with Felonious Possession of Stolen Property and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on July 25.
