TWO CHARGED WITH FELONIOUS BREAKING AND ENTERING TO MOTOR VEHICLE

June 14-Two men have been arrested by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a breaking and entering to a motor vehicle that occurred on Henry Court last February. Ernest Buie Jr., 19, of 606 3rd Street, Smithfield and Sume Hatami, 18, of 377 Emily Lane, Chapel Hill were arrested on Thursday and charged with 1 count of Felonious Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle and 3 counts of Financial Transaction card Fraud.

The incident was reported by Suzanne Wannamaker of Henry Court, Chapel Hill on February 22. She reported to officers that unknown subjects had broken into her vehicle and stole a Lap Top Computer, a cell phone and her purse with miscellaneous cards. Detective Joe Edwards conducted the investigation and after gathering evidence, looking at surveillance video and obtaining statements at the scene was able to later obtain the warrants on the two subjects. Both subjects were captured on surveillance video using the victim’s credit card.

Both men were jailed under a $7,500.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on July 11.
