April 1- Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s “ICE” team arrested a Chapel Hill man on felony drug charges after a traffic stop was conducted on Mann’s Chapel Road in Northern Chatham County. Deputies stopped the driver of a 1992 Mercury for a seat belt violation and soon after, he attempted to swallow cocaine. Officers were able to seize the drugs before they were consumed by the driver.
Deputies arrested Kenneth Pierre, 24, of 3 Elliott Woods, Chapel Hill for Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Fleeing to Elude Arrest and Resist, Delay and Obstruction of an Officer. He was jailed under a $20,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on April 25.
