April 16- On Monday afternoon, Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) team arrested two Pittsboro men on various drug charges after a traffic stop was conducted on Hwy 87 in Pittsboro. The driver, Charles Randell Paige attempt to flee from officers and initially refused to stop. Drugs were thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit. The driver pulled over and he and the passenger, later identified as Stanley Watson Jr., started to run but then surrendered after the Sheriff’s Canine “Meko” was deployed.
Officers seized $2,178.00 in cash, 50 grams of Marijuana and 27 grams of Cocaine after a search of the vehicle and surrounding area was conducted. Deputies arrested Charles Randell Paige, 29, of 722 Hillsboro Street, Pittsboro and Stanley Watson Jr., 29, of 75 Daisy Scurlock Road, Pittsboro for Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Felonious Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances, Felony Fleeing to Elude Arrest, Littering and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both men were jailed under a $125,000.00 secured bond and are scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on May 2.
