DEATH OF CHATHAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY

April 11-The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office regrets to inform of the death of one of its own. Deputy Aaron Gabriel Whitaker, 24, of Hwy 42, Carbonton was killed this morning in a single car motor vehicle accident in Moore County. The accident occurred at approximately 2:45 am on a rural road near Carthage. Deputy Whitaker was off duty at the time of the incident. Deputy Whitaker was apparently thrown from the vehicle after he struck a power pole. He had been an employee with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office for 2 months and prior to that was employed with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office for about 3 years. Deputy Whitaker is not married and has no children. Our prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

 The Family will receive guests at the Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, 420 Saunders St. Carthage, NC 28327, between 6pm and 8pm on Thursday, April 12, 2007. Funeral services will be held at Culdee Presbyterian Church, 916 NC Highway 73, West End, NC 27376 at 3pm on Friday, April 13, 2007.
