CHATHAM INVESTIGATORS MAKE ARREST FOR SEX CRIMES

March 8-Chatham County deputies have arrested Morris Jerod Bright, 37, of 15 J Stewart Lane, Sanford and charged him with Indecent Liberties with Child and Sexual Battery. Bright was initially arrested by the Sanford Police Department on warrants Detective Mike Szpunar issued as a result of a month long investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office and Chatham County Department of Social services. On February 2, authorities were notified that a 9 year old female victim reported that she was assaulted by Bright. The victim’s mother and Bright are acquaintances and the incident took place when they were visiting with each other and the victim and Bright were alone together.

Bright was jailed under a $15,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on March 19.
