February 4 - Christopher N Matthews was taken into custody, without incident, at his residence of 131C Fletcher-Siler Road, Siler City 27344, by SSG Brian Phillips and Deputy Chris Brown. He was charged with Murder (14-17) for the shooting death of his uncle Donald Louis Scotton of 175 Fletcher-Siler Road, Siler City, NC 27344 by Det/Sgt Szpunar of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigation Division. The arrest was the conclusion of an investigation/incident that occurred over the Super Bowl weekend of Saturday 03 Feb 07. Suspect Matthews provided a full written statement to Det/Sgt Szpunar stating that it was matter of self-defense. Matthews received a $500,000 secured bond and is currently in the Chatham County Jail awaiting his first appearance in court this morning of 05 Feb 07 in Pittsboro, NC District Court.
