January 5- Chatham County deputies arrested a Chapel Hill woman after an investigation was conducted in reference to a larceny of more than $10,000.00 worth of jewelry. The more than 30 items were reported stolen in November by Ashley Griffin of Sanford. Detective Latisha Allen began the investigation and recovered more than $3,300.00 worth of the jewelry in a Sanford Pawn Shop. She obtained a warrant and arrested Griffin’s former roommate, Ashley Smith, 27, of 20 A Woodbridge Drive, Chapel Hill.
Smith was arrested and charged with Felony Larceny. She was jailed under a $2,500.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on January 24.
