January 28- Chatham County deputies arrested two Greensboro men after investigating an assault and robbery report at the Sports Arena in Goldston. Deputies received a complaint of a robbery from Lucas Martin Bravo Miguel of Robbins at approximately 2:00 am on Sunday morning. He stated that two Hispanic males assaulted him and brandished a knife to get an $800.00 gold chain from around his neck. They left in a silver colored Chevy pickup and damaged at least three vehicles during their escaped.
Deputies found the vehicle on the side of the road approximately 1 mile north of the scene and gave chase to the two suspects in a nearby wooded area. Gerardo Juarez Ediga, 17 and Favian Villacacos, 23; both of Greensboro were arrested at gunpoint a short distance into the foot pursuit. Neither man gave an address. No one was injured during the chase.
It was later discovered that the suspects had to pull their vehicle over because airbags deployed after striking the vehicles while exiting the parking lot.
Both men were charged with Felonious Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Resisting Arrest. They were jailed under a $100,000.00 secured bond and are scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on January 31. A Photo of Ediga is not available.
