DEPUTIES ARREST ROBBERY SUSPECT

January 24-The Chatham County Sheriff’s ICE Team arrested a Pittsboro man after a traffic stop was conducted in Northern Chatham County. Officers stopped Christopher Brown, 38, of 2832 Hamlet’s Chapel Road, Pittsboro on Andrew’s Store Road and found stolen credit cards in his possession. Information was obtained that Brown was involved in a robbery in Chapel Hill on January 21 when he stole a purse from a woman. He fled in a dark colored station wagon.

Chatham County deputies located other items on Mann’s Chapel Road that were stolen during the robbery. All items have been turned over to Chapel Hill Police.

Brown was charged with Felonious Common Law Robbery, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Fictitious Registration Plate and No Insurance on his Vehicle. He was jailed under a $50,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on March 7.
