January 25-Edward Stalsitz, 51, of 120 A Hudson Place, Pittsboro was arrested on Thursday by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest was a result of a 3 week-long investigation conducted by Deputy Eric Lindley and Detective Joseph Edwards. On January 8th, Joseph Crawford of Cary reported that someone had stolen his identity and used it to purchase a digital camera from the Midnight Velvet Company without his permission. Deputies traced where the package was delivered and found the camera at Stalsitz’s home.
He was arrested without incident and charged with Felonious Financial Identity Theft and Felonious Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. He was released under a written promise and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on February 7.
