The Uniform Patrol Division has four Squads (1st, 2nd,
3rd, 4th). Each Squad has a Sergeant who supervises the shift, a Corporal
who is the assistant supervisor and four patrol deputies. The deputies
are assigned to different sections of Chatham County's 707 square mile
area.
Deputies
patrol their assigned areas and also are responsible for the service
of processes including warrants, criminal summons, subpoenas, show
cause orders, juvenile summons, and bond forfeitures. They also respond
to calls for service and constantly face dangerous situations. They
are tasked with additional duties such as prisoner transports, mental
health transportation, traffic enforcement as well as many other duties.
During the night, officers check buildings and keep a keen eye focused
on suspicious vehicles and persons.

The Chatham County deputy is our first line of defense
and needs the best equipment to perform a very dangerous mission. They
patrol one of the largest counties in the state and serve over 50,000
citizens.
